Storyline Summary:
Neeraj, a gritty Mumbai businessman, stumbles upon an enormous offshore oil reserve. He puts in power a former CBI man — Deepak, who was in jail for integrity — to begin a massive ₹1 lakh crore money-laundering gang using beggars as fronts. One such beggar, Deva (Dhanush), gets drawn into the chaos until he catches the gold noose around his neck. In flight, he meets Sameera (Rashmika), and this sets off cat-and-mouse between Neeraj and Deepak — unraveling strands of trust, greed, and social justice.
Positives
- Dhanush delivers a career-best, immersive performance as Deva — raw, powerful, and deeply moving
Nagarjuna surprises with a steely but troubled performance as Deepak, his equal for Dhanush across from him.
Jim Sarbh oozes menace and sharp intensity in the puppet-master Neeraj.
Supporting cast, especially Rashmika, brings emotional balance and shots of humor where needed.
Direction & screenplay: Firm socio-political messages of unconventional fearlessness along with creative narration — particularly with the employment of beggars as tools — are appreciated.
Technical aspects: Decent visuals, evocative background score, and grounded production design add to the immersion level
Dramatic climax build-up: Critics suggest high-octane, emotionally intense sequences culminating in the climax.
Pacing issues: The first half does not pick up, and progresses too slowly for many (~3 hour run time).
Lack of intensity: The second half loses momentum in terms of vitality, with repetition and/or predictability in certain scenes..
Inadequate secondary character development: Rashmika’s character and other deeper ties, i.e., between Deepak and Deva, could have been fleshed out.
Poor climax: Too many critics complained it was hurried or predictable, even with solid screenwriting. Worth Watching in Theatres?

⭐ Overall Rating: 7.5 / 10
Kuberaa is a tense and intellectual crime-drama upheld by powerhouse performances and unflinching narratives. Despite all its appearing pacing and length issues, its good things permeate — so that it is a movie worthwhile viewing, especially on the big screen, for Dhanush’s aeronautical performance and Sekhar Kammula’s courageous thematic color palette.
Final Verdict
Cinema it out — if you love cinematic scope, emotional depth, and socially responsible storytelling, Kuberaa’s has a great one, but with some narrative-heavy flaws.
